Self-Care Guide:

 By L. S. P.

Self-worth is not measured by success but by your inner level of contentedness. Your ultimate destination in life is happiness, and the unspoken means to achieving this goal is self-care. Taking care of yourself ensures a happy mind and a healthy body. A lady who is thriving exudes a certain glow that can be attained only through flourishing in all aspects of your being. This guide helps you navigate your way to being the best possible version of yourself.

  1. Mind

Your mindset sets the tone for your well-being. Think about it: if your mind is all thunderclouds and stormy showers, your rainbow personality is definitely not going to shine through. Ergo, cultivating a happy mind is the key to being a productive and positive girlie, ready to take on the world.

Tips to cultivate a healthy mindset:

  • Become one with whichever spiritual entity you resonate with, and if that’s not your thing - simply practice gratitude for your life as it is.

  • When you find yourself having negative thoughts, actively replace them with positive ones. Your mind is a garden, so let it bloom.

  • Surround yourself with optimistic energy - people who uplift you and help you feel confident.

  • Consume content that encourages productivity. That may be your preferred choice of music, books, or even social media outlets.

  • Find a constructive escape that provides leisure in which you can relish after a bad day.

  • Prioritize yourself - Set your own standards and work toward them at your own pace because, girl, you live for yourself and no one else.

  1. Body

Your body is a tangible representation of who you are. How you carry yourself sends a loud message. The good part is: you get to choose what you want to say to the world. You’re living and existing and working every single day, right? Why not look good doing what you have to do? Scream out to everyone that you’re confident in who you are without saying a single word.

Tips to treat your body like a temple:

  • Invest in yourself. There’s no shame in spending your hard-earned money a little selfishly. Here are some personally approved brands if you’re looking for a recommendation: The Ordinary, CeraVe, Neutrogena, Cetaphil, and Glossier.

  • Hydrate! You think that drinking 8 glasses of water a day is unnecessary until you witness its magical touch. Clear skin, less bloating… the list goes on. Try it and see for yourself.

  • Create a balanced diet. Minimize your intake of processed foods and gradually incorporate healthier, home-cooked meals - equal portions of carbs, vegetables, and proteins, i.e., chicken and rice with a side of baked veggies.

  • Steadily include exercise in your daily routine. This doesn't mean waking up every day at the crack of dawn to go to the gym. Put on your favorite song and go for a run or even take a jog. Small change is still change, and I'm proud of you!

  • Cherish the health you were blessed with. A cocktail once in a while isn’t criminal, girl, have fun - but do these things in moderation. There are many fun things for you to do that don't include destroying your health.

  • Sleep! When you wake up fully rested suddenly, life is all sunshine and rainbows. Things that usually get on your last nerve now roll off you. You deserve to have a good day; get that beauty sleep, girl!  Try soothing tea, skincare, or reading before bed to speed up the process.
