-S.P.
Everyone indulges in the temptation of Vogue’s ‘Beauty Secrets’ tutorials. Finding out that Hollywood’s sweethearts actually do their own makeup - and we can do it too? In ten minutes, no less! It’s like insider information served up on a platter. Whether you’re trying to emulate a look or create a mix-and-match situation, they’re totally binge-worthy. The issue is, there’s really just too many to look at - 1 becomes 10 becomes 25… Before you know it, you’ve busted out the Doritos with half a face of foundation on. Just me? To cut out the Dorito-sized middleman, I’ve compiled a list of our favorite stars’ beauty tips - products included!
Tyla:
DJ we wanna party with Tyla’s glowy, bronzy skin! The button nose is to die for, the shimmer is regal, and yet, the makeup is minimal. The best part about Tyla’s routine? She’s budget-friendly with it! Let’s get into it:
Multi-purpose makeup queen:
Tyla swears by Pat Mcgrath concealers for those pesky dark circles - mix for the perfect color match. Use the darker shade again for a contour base. Repeat contouring with powder for a more defined bronze look.
Apply Fenty highlighter to the middle of the eyelid to create a soft, glowy eye. Mix body lotion with the same highlighter and apply to the chest area for an even, shimmery glow.
Stop the concealer-creasing:
Tyla’s complaints about creasing are so relatable! Her method to avoid this is: smooth out your concealer with a brush after application, keeping your eyes as wide as possible, and set it with powder - she uses Black Opal.
Avoid “doing too much”:
Tyla’s signature brown winged liner and a neutral lipliner + lip mask keep the look soft enough for everyday wear.
Kylie Jenner:
Who knows more about makeup than this empress? From the King Kylie era to the soft glam Chalamet-inspired looks, she pulls off everything. Let’s explore the softer side of Kylie’s routine while maintaining the same level of snatched:
Use your hands for a more “intimate experience”
Kylie’s precise words! Blend your foundation and concealer (Kylie Cosmetics, of course) into your skin with your hands for natural-looking coverage.
Less is more:
Lightly apply contour on all important spots (nose, eyes, etc.) with an angled brush to keep the face defined. Kylie uses a smidge of Givenchy powder around the nose and eyes & Charlotte Tilbury for the rest of the base.
Kylie is all about embracing natural bushy brows - brush them out and fill in lightly with a brow pencil. Brush gel upwards into your brows to lock them in - she raves about Anastasia brow products.
Emphasize your eyes:
Apply cream shadow around the outer corner of the eye, dragging it out. Then, layer powder shadow on the lower lid. Kylie creates an almond shape with eyeliner while keeping it tiny and understated. Lastly, focus mascara on the outer eyelashes to reinforce that signature almond shape.
Nara Smith:
Nara Smith is the epitome of perfection - her style, her makeup, her cooking? All chefs kiss. With Nara, we know we’re getting makeup that’s still good for your skin - even if you don’t make it yourself. This one is for the sensitive skin girlies:
- Keep your base products hydrating and dewy:
Nara uses Mac primer and Saie skin tint for hers! She blots half a pump of Chanel foundation by hand for extra coverage.
- Let your concealer sit:
Do another makeup step in the meantime - Nara does her brows. Letting the concealer sit helps with maximum coverage for dark circle days. Dampen your beauty blender with Max Fix+ spray to blend it out easily. Repeat if necessary - Hourglass concealer can be layered. Veil Hourglass powder atop everything to set the look.
- Blush like crazy:
Warm cream blush on your hand before applying - Nara recommends Rhode. Set this with powder blush for extra rosiness.
- Natural-not-natural lashes:
Apply Mac mascara. Nara swears by Ardell individual lashes and Duo black glue - 12mm at the end and 10mm in front. This gives you a striking but natural eye look.
- All out lips:
Line your lips with chestnut Mac lipliner, dragging it in at the corners. Smudge your liner with your finger and use a Benefit berry color stain and Mac lipglass to achieve Nara’s bold, glossy lip look.
Madelyn Cline:
Since Outer Banks premiered, Madelyn has turned quite a few heads. Featuring in Vogue with a Versace robe adds to the drama, and we’re here for it. She gives off a sexy but sweet girl-next-door vibe - kind of like the friend you want makeup advice from:
- When in doubt, blend it out:
Madelyn’s on-camera foundation mismatch is so real! We see her visibly panicking as she goes in with a brush and beauty blender, blending well down her neck. Eventually, it actually looks like a pretty accurate match!
- Siren eyes:
Apply waterline eyeliner to the top of the lid (Urban Decay 24/7) to accentuate eyelashes before mascara. Follow the line of your bottom eyelid with the Benefit They’re Real Precision liner to get the perfect wing + sharp inner corners too! Finish with Armani mascara on the top and bottom lashes - it makes all the difference.
- Lip contouring:
Overline your lips with a brush and blend with your fingers. Madelyn finishes off with a mix of orange and pink Hermes lip oils for a peachy kiss!
